Quinn Mathews Impresses in Major League Debut Despite Loss

Cardinals prospect Quinn Mathews (0-1) made his Major League debut Saturday against the Blue Jays, taking the loss in a 5-1 defeat. Mathews was impressive, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three over five-plus innings. He recorded his first career strikeout within the first three batters faced. Despite his solid performance, the Cardinals' offense failed to provide sufficient run support.
