Casey Schmitt Out for Season Following Meniscus Surgery

Casey Schmitt has been placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee while rounding first base during a win over the Brewers. Giants manager Tony Vitello confirmed Wednesday that Schmitt will require surgery and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. Prior to this significant setback, Schmitt had been the subject of trade rumors involving the Seattle Mariners, but his focus has now shifted entirely to his recovery process.
