Rookie Fernando Mendoza Begins Training Camp Behind Kirk Cousins

Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak has confirmed that rookie Fernando Mendoza will open training camp behind veteran Kirk Cousins. Despite being the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and showing efficiency in the Rose Bowl, Mendoza faces a developmental path as the team prioritizes veteran leadership. He will compete with Aidan O'Connell for reps while remaining outside the top 10 Madden NFL 27 rookie ratings as he adjusts to the professional level.
