Max Scherzer Returns from IL on 42nd Birthday Against Nationals

Max Scherzer was reinstated from the 15-day IL and returned to the mound Monday against Washington on his 42nd birthday. In his first appearance in six weeks following back and thumb issues, he allowed one run in an abbreviated outing. Scherzer received two standing ovations from Nationals fans in what may have been his final appearance in Washington. His return provides a significant boost to the Toronto Blue Jays' rotation.
