Tyler Tolbert Ties MLB Record With 12 Consecutive Hits

Kansas City Royals utilityman Tyler Tolbert has etched his name in the record books by recording hits in 12 consecutive plate appearances. The streak, which culminated in an infield single during Tuesday's 16-12 victory over the Mets, is a remarkable turnaround for a player who entered the stretch with a career .247 average and zero home runs in 85 big-league at-bats. Tolbert's historic performance has been the centerpiece of the Royals' recent offensive surge.
