Cale Makar Contract Status Remains Independent of Market Trends

Reports indicate that Cale Makar’s future contract negotiations with the Colorado Avalanche remain unaffected by league-wide market movements, including Leo Carlsson’s $90 million extension. While external benchmarks have sparked debate regarding elite defenseman valuations, the focus remains on Makar's unique value to the Avalanche. Locking down Makar is considered the organization's top priority, potentially influencing the shape of other roster extensions.
