Placed on Injured List with Severe Ear and Throat Infection

The Yankees placed infielder Ryan McMahon on the 10-day injured list Wednesday as he battles a severe ear and throat infection. The illness, which has persisted for over a week, was more complicated than initially reported, leaving McMahon unable to eat. In a corresponding move, the team recalled utility player Oswaldo Cabrera from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Yankees are monitoring McMahon's recovery closely and will provide further updates as he undergoes treatment to regain strength.
