Mavericks Draft Strategy Questioned Following Selection of Morez Johnson Jr.

The Dallas Mavericks face scrutiny after selecting Michigan's Morez Johnson Jr. with the No. 9 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The move, which reunites the rookie with his former coach Dusty May, has been criticized as a low-upside selection that fails to provide immediate, high-impact support for Cooper Flagg. Analysts are questioning the team's direction as they look to build around their core talent during the current offseason.
