Charlie McAvoy Suspended Six Games for Slashing Zach Benson

Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has been suspended for six games following a retaliatory two-handed slash to the right arm of Buffalo Sabres forward Zach Benson. The NHL Department of Player Safety issued the ruling Tuesday after an in-person hearing in New York. The incident occurred during Game 6 of their series after Benson tripped McAvoy. The suspension will be served at the start of the next season, removing McAvoy from the Bruins' lineup.
