Victor Eklund Declines World Championship Invite to Focus on NHL Development

New York Islanders top forward prospect Victor Eklund has officially decided not to represent Sweden at the 2026 World Championships. Eklund is choosing to prioritize his North American development over the international tournament, a move that strongly hints at his intentions to secure a future NHL roster spot with the Islanders. By opting out of the World Championships, the prospect is focusing entirely on his progression within the Islanders' system to prepare for the next level of play.
