Capitals Await Decision on Alex Ovechkin's 22nd NHL Season

The Washington Capitals are preparing for the future as 40-year-old captain Alex Ovechkin weighs his decision to return for a 22nd NHL season. GM Chris Patrick and president of hockey operations Brian MacLellan confirmed the organization is not pressuring the star, allowing him time to consult with his family following the season. While the team is developing contingency plans for the 2026-27 campaign, they remain committed to supporting Ovechkin through his decision-making process.
