Mathew Barzal Shifts to Center Under Coach Pete DeBoer

Mathew Barzal is transitioning to a new role under the direction of incoming New York Islanders head coach Pete DeBoer. Barzal, who has expressed that his natural preference and "heart" on the ice is to play at the center position, will see that desire fulfilled as part of DeBoer's initial tactical adjustments for the team. This positional change marks the first major strategic move by the new coaching staff for the star forward.
