Auston Matthews Out for Season Following Grade 3 MCL Tear

Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews is sidelined for the remainder of the 2025-26 season after suffering a Grade 3 MCL tear and quad contusion. The injury occurred during a knee-on-knee hit by Anaheim's Radko Gudas. Matthews' agent, Judd Moldaver, has publicly criticized the NHL's five-game suspension of Gudas as "laughable," while the Maple Leafs organization continues to express frustration regarding the discipline, arguing it does not sufficiently address the severity of the hit.
