Hughes Records Hat Trick of Assists, Shows No Injury Signs in Olympic Win

New Jersey Devils center Jack Hughes delivered a hat trick of assists and registered a shot on goal in the United States' 5-1 victory over Latvia during Olympic round-robin play Thursday. Hughes led the U.S. in points, providing primary helpers on Brock Nelson's two goals and a secondary assist on Auston Matthews' power-play tally. Notably, Hughes, who missed the Devils' final three games before the Olympic break, displayed no lingering injury issues while skating on the Americans' productive fourth line.
