Cam Talbot Expresses Love for Goalie Fights, Recalls His Own Bout

Detroit Red Wings goaltender Cam Talbot, who was the most recent NHL goalie to fight prior to two recent bouts, expressed his enthusiasm for seeing goalies drop the gloves. Talbot recalled his own fight against Mike Smith in 2020 during the Battle of Alberta, admitting he wished he'd chosen a less imposing opponent. Idolizing Patrick Roy, Talbot grew up watching legendary goalie fights and believes they provide a "good show for the fans" and a "spark" for players.
