Orlando Magic's Desmond Bane, who has Nigerian heritage, has expressed strong interest in representing Nigeria at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. He aims to "make something happen" and recruit fellow NBA stars to D'Tigers' cause, having already discussed the possibility with Aaron Nesmith (Pacers) and Gabe Vincent (Lakers). Other Nigerian-listed NBA players include Precious Achiuwa (Kings) and Adem Bona (76ers). Nigeria's national team missed the 2024 Paris Games and is currently ranked 50th globally, facing a challenging qualification path for 2028.
