Sean McDermott Fired by Bills After Record Playoff Shortcomings

Sean McDermott was fired as head coach of the Buffalo Bills after the team's seventh consecutive playoff exit without reaching the Super Bowl. He led the Bills to the playoffs eight times in nine seasons, including two AFC Championship appearances, and achieved an unprecedented six straight seasons with a playoff win but no Super Bowl appearance. McDermott's eight playoff wins are the most for any coach in the Super Bowl era who hasn't made it to the title game. The vacancy is considered attractive, with the next coach inheriting 2024 AP NFL MVP Josh Allen and a strong roster.
