Kings Legend Anze Kopitar Retires, Leaves Storied Legacy vs. Ducks
Anze Kopitar, a Los Angeles Kings legend, announced his retirement before the 2025-26 season, concluding a 20-year career that saw him become the all-time leading scorer against the Anaheim Ducks with 93 points in 95 games. Drafted 11th overall in 2005, Kopitar won two Stanley Cups (2012, 2014) and earned multiple individual awards, including three Lady Byng and two Selke trophies. He played a franchise-record 1491 games and is just nine points shy of becoming the Kings' all-time leading scorer. Kopitar was placed on IR on Jan. 10 and was likely unavailable for his final games against the Ducks.
