Senators Prospect Arthur Kaliyev Heating Up in AHL Despite NHL Investigation

Ottawa Senators prospect Arthur Kaliyev, 24, is making a strong case for an NHL call-up, leading the Belleville Senators (AHL) with eight goals in 13 games, including six goals in his last five. This places him tied for sixth in AHL goal scoring, just two goals off the league lead. While Ottawa's NHL team is seventh in goal scoring, several forwards are off to slow starts, suggesting Kaliyev could be an upgrade in a bottom-six role. However, Kaliyev is currently under an NHL investigation following allegations from his ex-girlfriend regarding a gambling habit. The Senators are content to keep him in Belleville while the situation is resolved, but if injuries hit the forward group or his strong play continues, a call-up could come sooner.
