Jake Allen Set to Start for Devils Saturday, Embracing Backup Role

Jake Allen (New Jersey Devils) is confirmed to start in goal against the Washington Capitals on Saturday. The 34-year-old, a Stanley Cup winner with St. Louis, joined the Devils after the 2023-24 deadline, bringing stability to the team's net. This season, Allen will serve as the backup to Jacob Markstrom, a role expected to improve his ratios closer to his past performance in St. Louis, making him a solid option in daily fantasy formats and contributing to a potential top-10 goaltending duo. Allen's career has seen periods of strong play and inconsistency, including a 2022-23 season with the Canadiens where injuries and poor performance led to a 15-24-3 record, 3.55 GAA, and .891 SV%.
