Auston Matthews Placed on Injured Reserve with Lower Body Injury

Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews was designated for injured reserve on Friday, November 14, 2025, retroactive to November 11, due to a lower-body injury. Matthews, an elite goal scorer with multiple 60-goal seasons, has a history of injury risk, having missed time in five of his seven seasons and is projected to miss 8-10 games this year. Despite this, he has consistently dominated, winning the Hart Trophy in 2021-22 and the Rocket Richard Trophy in 2020-21. He finished the 2023-24 campaign with 69 goals and 107 points, and is considered a top-tier fantasy asset, often compared to Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
