Nathan MacKinnon Dominates, Leads NHL Scoring Race, Chasing Historic Triple Crown

Nathan MacKinnon is spearheading the Colorado Avalanche's record-breaking start, currently leading the NHL in both goals (14) and points (29). The 2013 first overall pick recently delivered a five-point performance, including two goals, against the Vancouver Canucks, which saw him surpass Peter Šťastný for third place on the Avalanche’s all-time goals list with his 381st career goal. Over two games against the Edmonton Oilers and Canucks, MacKinnon accumulated nine points (four goals, five assists). He is on track for a career-best 149 points this season (72 goals, 77 assists), following his 140-point campaign in 2023-24. MacKinnon is a strong candidate for the NHL Triple Crown, a rare feat last achieved over three decades ago, though his 15 assists currently place him tied for sixth in the league. His exceptional play positions him as a top contender for the Art Ross, Ted Lindsay, and Hart Memorial trophies.
