Harrison Brunicke's NHL Stint Nears Contract Milestone Amidst WHL Reassignment Speculation
Harrison Brunicke, a second-round pick (44th overall) by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2024, is having a notable start to his NHL career, nearly making the team as an 18-year-old last season. Through his first nine NHL games, Brunicke has scored one goal and logged 15:43 of ice time per night. A critical point for Brunicke is that playing one more game with the Penguins would activate the first season of his entry-level contract, according to RadioNL’s Jon Keen. Given his in-and-out status in the lineup, he is considered more likely than Ben Kindel to be reassigned to the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL. Brunicke was a reliable blueliner for the Blazers, even playing 59 games as a 16-year-old during the Memorial Cup season. He is also being considered for Team Canada's World Juniors, contingent on the Penguins granting permission.
