Calgary Flames Recall Promising Defenceman Yan Kuznetsov from AHL Wranglers
The Calgary Flames have recalled defenceman Yan Kuznetsov from their AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers, on Tuesday. The 22-year-old blueliner has had a solid start to his AHL season, recording two goals, including a game-winner, and a plus-5 rating in 10 games. This marks Kuznetsov's sixth year in the Flames organization, having previously played for the Stockton Heat. He made his NHL debut last January against the Ottawa Senators and is seen as a strong candidate for a bigger defensive role. Last season, he posted a team-best plus-21 rating and 21 points (6 goals, 15 assists) in 72 AHL games, earning him a two-year contract extension, with the second year becoming one-way. A 2020 second-round pick, Kuznetsov has accumulated 226 AHL games, logging heavy minutes.
