Louis Domingue Leaves KHL Club Due to Family Reasons After Underperforming Stint
Canadian goaltender Louis Domingue, 33, has been released by KHL club Sibir Novosibirsk on Monday, citing 'family reasons,' a common explanation for contract terminations in the league. In 11 games for Sibir this season, Domingue posted a 3.83 goals-against average and an .892 save percentage, as the team holds the worst record in the KHL's Eastern Conference. Domingue previously signed a one-year deal with Sibir. His NHL career spanned 144 regular-season games and 7 playoff games between 2014 and 2025 for multiple teams, including the New York Rangers. Notably, in the 2018-19 season with Tampa Bay, he achieved a 21-5-0 record in 26 games, including 11 consecutive wins. He also played a significant role for Pittsburgh in the 2021-22 playoffs due to injuries, appearing in six of seven games against the Rangers.
