Daniel Carlson Released by Saints After Inconsistent Kicking

Veteran kicker Daniel Carlson was released by the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday following a disappointing seven-game stint. Carlson converted 8 of 12 field goals (66 percent) and 16 of 18 extra points, with all four missed field goals coming from 50-plus yards, including a crucial 52-yard miss in Week 7. Head coach Kellen Moore cited consistency issues for the decision, turning the job back over to practice squad kicker Charlie Smyth.
