Bobby Witt Denied Gold Glove Despite Leading Metrics at Shortstop

Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt was passed over for the AL Gold Glove Award despite leading all American League shortstops in key defensive metrics. Witt registered 8 Defensive Runs Saved and 17 Fielding Run Value across 1,209 innings in 2026, topping the league with a 12.5 AVGDEF score. Despite his elite numbers and 2025 Platinum Glove honors, Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Taylor Walls received the award based on manager and coach voting.
