Sal Stewart Named Finalist for NL Rookie of the Year Award

Cincinnati Reds infielder Sal Stewart was named one of three finalists for the 2026 NL Jackie Robinson Rookie of the Year Award. Stewart dominated traditional offensive metrics among rookies, batting .263 with 25 doubles, 32 home runs, and 111 RBI—the highest RBI total by an NL rookie since 2019. Despite a late-season slump and a transition to first base that impacted his 1.8 WAR, the two-time Rookie of the Month winner remains a top contender alongside Carson Benge and JJ Wetherholt.
