Christian Cairo Signs One-Year Split Contract With the Mets

The Mets are signing infielder/outfielder Christian Cairo to a one-year split contract. Cairo, 25, was claimed off waivers from the Phillies in September. Across 130 games in Triple-A for both organizations last season, he slashed .230/.381/.300 with 25 stolen bases. The son of former MLB player Miguel Cairo demonstrated defensive versatility in 2026 by playing shortstop, second base, third base, center field, and left field.
