Salvador Perez Struggles in 2026 Royals Season Review

Salvador Perez endured a challenging 2026 season with the Royals, finishing with a career-low 77 wRC+ and -1.1 fWAR despite captaining Team Venezuela to a WBC title. Limited to 44 games behind the plate due to hip issues while spending 80 games at DH, Perez posted a .595 first-half OPS before recovering to a 105 wRC+ in the second half. He also converted 46 of 65 ABS challenges, but Kansas City faces decisions regarding his role in 2027.
