Yoán Moncada Remembered Two Years After White Sox Contract Buyout
Two years ago on October 31, 2024, the Chicago White Sox officially cut ties with infielder Yoán Moncada by buying out his contract for $5 million instead of exercising a $25 million option for 2025. Once rated the top prospect in baseball, Moncada earned $71.1 million during his Chicago career while producing 14.5 WAR. Though often viewed as a disappointment relative to his high expectations, his production ultimately cost the White Sox $4.9 million per WAR.
