MJ Melendez Enters Free Agency After Up-and-Down Season With Mets
Outfielder MJ Melendez elected free agency in October following an inconsistent 2026 campaign with the New York Mets. The 27-year-old former Top 100 prospect surged during an injury-plagued April for the Mets, posting a 191 wRC+, but cooled drastically with a 54 wRC+ in May and 71 wRC+ in June before finishing the year in Triple-A Syracuse. Overall, Melendez batted .191 with a .315 OBP, .350 slugging percentage, and a 91 wRC+ over his big-league stint.
