Caleb Thielbar's 2026 Struggles and Injury Lead to Cubs' Regret

Caleb Thielbar's 2026 season with the Cubs was a disappointment following a strong 2025. Signed to a $4 million deal, Thielbar, at age 38, posted a 2.64 ERA in 2025. However, in 2026, he struggled, allowing 11 home runs in 50 innings. An April 23rd injury to his hamstring, sustained after giving up a home run to Adolis Garcia, sidelined him for about four weeks and impacted his effectiveness. The Cubs are advised against exercising his mutual option for 2027.
