Jake Burger Named 2026 MLBPA Philanthropist of the Year

Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger has been named the 2026 Philanthropist of the Year by the Players Trust, the charitable arm of the MLBPA. Burger was honored for his extensive community work focused on Down's syndrome awareness, inspired by his daughter, Penelope, who has Down's syndrome. Upon joining the Rangers, Burger changed his uniform number to 21 to honor individuals with Down's syndrome, which is caused by an extra 21st chromosome.
