Giancarlo Stanton Faces Uncertain Yankees Role Amid Injury Concerns

Giancarlo Stanton enters the offseason healthy after three calf strains limited him to 24 games and 96 plate appearances in 2026. The New York Yankees owe Stanton $15 million of his $25 million salary for 2027, making a release unlikely despite a congested DH spot featuring Ben Rice and Aaron Judge. GM Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone praised his leadership, but durability remains a concern after an elbow-plagued 2025 where he hit .273 with 24 HRs in 77 games (281 PAs).
