Nazem Kadri Doubles Avalanche Lead with First-Period Power-Play Goal

Nazem Kadri extended the Colorado Avalanche's lead to 2-0 with a first-period power-play goal against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Capitalizing on a tripping penalty by Tampa Bay's Brandon Hagel, Kadri buried a pass from T.J. Hughes from the low slot at the 5:52 mark of the opening period. Kadri's goal provided key insurance for Colorado, who went on to hold a 2-0 cushion heading into the first intermission despite being outshot 12-9 by the Lightning during an intense opening 20 minutes of play.
