Mitchell Gibson Recalled by Capitals Amid Logan Thompson Injury

The Washington Capitals recalled goaltender Mitchell Gibson from AHL Hershey on Friday to bolster depth with Logan Thompson (lower body) questionable for Saturday's home game against Buffalo. Gibson, 27, has posted a 3.50 GAA and an .881 save percentage across two appearances with Hershey in 2026-27 and has yet to make his NHL debut. If Thompson is ruled out, Charlie Lindgren is expected to start against the Sabres, leaving Gibson to serve as the team's backup goaltender.
