Luis Garcia Could See Playing Time at Second and Third Base in 2027

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone stated that Luis Garcia could see defensive action at second base and potentially third base during the 2027 season. Garcia primarily played second base early in his career before shifting to first base full-time in 2026, where he graded as an above-average defender. He slashed .277/.309/.521 with 30 home runs and 92 RBI over 147 games between the Nationals and Yankees, and is eligible for his final salary arbitration this winter.
