Walter Clayton Jr. Waived by Memphis Grizzlies Before Roster Deadline

The Memphis Grizzlies have waived guard Walter Clayton Jr. and forward Micah Peavy ahead of the NBA's roster cutdown deadline. Clayton, who led Florida to the 2025 NCAA title and won Final Four MOP honors, was selected 18th overall in 2025. After stints with the Jazz and Grizzlies where he averaged 9.7 points and 5.7 assists in Memphis, trade talks fell through, and the Grizzlies opted to part ways to meet the 15-player regular-season limit.
