Ben Rortvedt Elects Free Agency After Outright Assignment
Catcher Ben Rortvedt officially elected free agency after being sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City in September. Acquired at the trade deadline, Rortvedt appeared in 16 games and started nine for the Dodgers, batting .185 with five hits in 27 at-bats while filling in for injured catchers Will Smith and Dalton Rushing. Having accrued nearly four years of major league service time, Rortvedt exercised his right to free agency under Article XX(D)(1) of the collective bargaining agreement.
