Seth Lugo's Royals Season Marked by Inconsistency and Injury

Seth Lugo's 2026 season with the Kansas City Royals was a significant step down from his previous year, despite signing a two-year extension. After a strong April, his ERA climbed steadily, finishing at 5.17 over 172.1 innings. Lugo struggled particularly against left-handed batters, surrendering an .874 OPS. He also missed time due to a concussion. The Royals face decisions about his future, with his contract including incentives that could create tension.
