Trea Turner Receives Ultimatum from Phillies: Improve Shortstop Defense or Change Position

Phillies executive Dave Dombrowski has issued an ultimatum to Trea Turner: improve his shortstop defense by spring training or face a position change. Turner, 33, had a career-worst 2026 season, hitting .242 with a .675 OPS and committing a league-high 21 errors at shortstop, followed by a 1-for-10 playoff performance. Despite having seven years left on his $300M contract and a no-trade clause, his future at shortstop is uncertain, with Bryson Stott or prospect Aidan Miller as potential replacements.
