Dave Dombrowski Issues Mandatory Defensive Warning to Trea Turner

Philadelphia Phillies president Dave Dombrowski confirmed Trea Turner will open next season at shortstop despite a down 2026 campaign where he slashed .242/.297/.378 with 21 errors and minus-17 DRS over 157 games. Turner met with team brass, taking accountability and expressing a desire to stay at short. Dombrowski made defensive improvement mandatory to retain the job and noted Turner will work with newly hired infield coach Carlos Mendoza to bolster his performance.
