Tobi Lawal Brings Elite Athleticism and Derrick Jones Comp to Dallas

Dallas Mavericks 48th overall pick Tobi Lawal enters his rookie season on a two-way contract, drawing comparisons to Derrick Jones Jr. Known for a record-setting 45.5-inch vertical at the NBA Combine, the 6'8" forward averaged 12.3 points and 8.5 rebounds at Virginia Tech. While his athleticism and rebounding give him an immediate foundation, Lawal must expand his offensive skill set and outside shooting to carve out consistent rotation minutes under coach Dusty May in a crowded Dallas frontcourt.
